‘Project Runway’: The winner: Irina Shabayeva. Congratulations, Irina!

A couple of other thoughts:

I thought it was really striking how dark and somber these collections were. They were technically proficient for sure, and they all had points of view, but the exuberance that marked the collections of Jeffrey Sebelia, Christian Siriano, or Santino Rice was noticeably missing.
There’s been a good deal of talk, here and elsewhere, about the relative strength of the designers this season. Looking at these final three, I do think they could measure up to just about anyone else who’s been a contestant on this show. And in terms of technical merit, I do think the right person won.
The promo ad says that Season 7 premieres on Jan. 14. Seriously? I know this season was held up over the court battle and all, but shouldn’t Lifetime give the brand a little down time in between seasons?

We Expect Fashion
After watching last night’s episode of Project Runway, I have a suggestion for next season: start out with 10-12 designers, max. I know that the show is a phenomenon and the producers want to keep it on as long as possible, but 16 designers (down to 15 at the start of episode 2) is just too many.

Money Talks – Project Runway

Project Runway Season 6 Episode 1:It’s finally here! After a year and a half of waiting, Project Runway has returned to television. Sure, it’s a different network but, despite a few changes, it’s still the same show we’ve come to know and love.

I shed a little tear that season 6 won’t take place in New York City but go over it quickly enough (only because I know they’re headed back to my side of the country for season 7). Heidi and Tim meet up with the 16 designers that will be competing this season to get to know them a little bit and form quick connections. Side note: I don’t know how these people aren’t star struck. I met Tim Gunn at Fashion Week last year and just about fell over in my high heels.
